THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Procedures are ongoing to bring the mortal remains of Geetha Shoji Isaac (58), who died in a bus accident in Kenya, back to her hometown in Thiruvananthapuram. Geetha's husband Shoji Isaac and son Abel will also be brought to Thiruvananthapuram. Both of them suffered injuries in the accident.

Geetha’s mother Annamma Oommen, who lives in Subhash Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram, learned of the tragedy only on Wednesday evening. Geetha's son Joel, who was in Kochi, reached Subhash Nagar late in the evening. The relatives are yet to come to terms with the tragic news and many of them are reaching the home in droves.

Joel said that Shoji, who is undergoing treatment, is not fit to travel while Abel needs urgent surgery.

Geetha was accompanied by her husband Shoji Isaac and her younger son Abel to Kemya for vacation. Both Abel and Shoji are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nairobi. Shoji was not informed of Geetha’s death while his brother had already started his travel to Kenya to speed up procedures.

Geetha's body was airlifted to Nairobi. Annamma Oommen is a retired teacher from Karamana NSS College. Geetha’s sister Deepa is in New York. Shoji Isaac, a native of Cherukole, Mavelikara, and Geetha first moved to Palarivattom, Kochi and later to Qatar in 2001. Joel is an online consulting doctor in Kochi. Abel works as an engineer in Qatar.
