
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government accepted the Justice J.B. Koshy Commission report in principle. The cabinet meeting also decided to publish the report officially. In addition to the recommendations already taken, today's cabinet meeting took decisions on 32 more recommendations made by the commission, which was appointed to study the educational, economic and welfare issues of Christian minorities in the state.
After deeming the requirement that only those who joined as Latin Catholics before 1947 and their descendants are eligible to get the Latin Catholic community certificate to be unscientific, it was decided that the certificate issued by the concerned bishops can be granted based on the local investigation conducted by the village officer. The year 1947 shall not be considered as the criterion for issuing the caste/community certificate.
