THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in various districts in the wake of heavy rains in the state. Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert tomorrow. Isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted. Heavy rainfall is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is expected in 24 hours.
Meantime, the IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light rainfall in isolated places in all districts of Kerala in the next three hours. There is no special alert in any district today. The IMD also informed that there will be no disruption to fishing on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today.
Strong winds with a speed of 45 to 55 kmph and at times up to 65 kmph are possible in the southwest Arabian Sea, the adjoining central west Arabian Sea and the adjoining northwest Arabian Sea today. The IMD has also stated that there is a possibility of strong winds and bad weather with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph and at times up to 60 kmph over the southwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari area.
