THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar praised Kerala for being a model state for others in the country to emulate. Governor’s appreciation for the state came while inaugurating the state-level 'Niramaya Keralam' project, which provides first aid training in schools under the leadership of the First Aid Council of India (FACI), at the Mascot Hotel.
Governor Arlekar:
“Kerala is ranked highest in the country for its excellent work in the health sector. The government alone can’t make everything work. Along with the officials, the locals should also join hands. Kerala is proud to lead the country in the First Aid project. It is commendable that such a project was started on the day of Guru Purnima.
During my school days, I was not even allowed to touch the first aid box. Even if a classmate got injured, we had no idea how to do it. First aid should be made mandatory in the curriculum from class 1 to university. The project should be extended to the general public as well.”
First Aid Council of India Director General Kerala Trivikram M. Upadhyaya, State Head Mubarak Nawabjan, CEO Dr. Isha Sharma, President Dr. Shabab Alam and others were present at the event.
