THRISSUR: Actor Mohanlal stole the limelight at the closing ceremony of the 64th State School Arts Festival. Ending the long wait of spectators, the actor started his speech, offering his divine respects to Vadakkumnadhan (Lord Shiva) at Thrissur. The Malayalam superstar asked the students to utilise the infinite possibilities ahead, beyond victories and defeats of the festival and consider the whole event as an experience rather than a competition.
Mohanlal humorously added that he wore the khadi cloth and twirled his moustache to make children happy. He reminded that actresses Manju Warrier and Navya Nair, and singers KS Chitra and G Venugopal are stars who emerged through the school art festivals. Mohanlal also extended special congratulations to Kannur district and Gurukulam Higher Secondary School in Alathur for scoring the highest number of points.
“As an artist, I have great respect for this stage. This is a celebration where young talents shine. Artists should not limit their talents to this platform alone, but should hone their skills and utilise the opportunities. Here, victories and defeats are irrelevant. Those who fail to win any prizes should not feel dejected.
Kalolsavam gives them the realisation of togetherness and sharing. I am grateful to the government for recognising the political and social relevance of Kalolsavam and conducting the event in all its grandeur. Despite the popularity of social media, many directors still seek talent from school festivals. The festival has contributed countless such talents to the Malayalam industry,” said Mohanlal.
