THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSRTC made a historic achievement in daily ticket collection yesterday. Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar announced that the department bagged Rs 12.18 crore as daily revenue yesterday alone. The total collection, including non-ticket revenue, is Rs 13.02 crore. The minister also dedicated the historic achievement to the Malayalees and the KSRTC staff.

The minister said it was not just the Sabarimala season that resulted in this big jump in revenue. He said that the Left government will take KSRTC forward safely and confirmed an additional increase of Rs 2 crore from Sabarimala services alone compared to last year. He opined that the stats suggest KSRTC is on the way to achieving better prospects.

Meanwhile, Ganesh Kumar told the media that Volvo luxury buses with better facilities for passengers will soon be launched. In the first phase, the service will be on the Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam route.

“The timely reform measures taken after I took office as a minister and the continued work carried out by the KSRTC management have been crucial for the great progress towards the goal of "self-sufficient KSRTC". The arrival of new buses and the qualitative changes brought in services have been widely accepted by the passengers.” Said Ganesh Kumar.
