KOCHI: AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal MP said the party decision will be the ultimate in the Kochi Mayor selection. Venugopal said that any differences will be discussed within the party.
K C Venugopal:
“It is natural for Deepthi Mary Varghese, a probable choice for the mayor post, to be dejected over the decision. During a time when Congress couldn’t even think about working properly in Maharajas College, a group of students, including Deepthi, came to the forefront, displaying incredible courage. They worked for the party day and night and have been in public work since. If such a person dreamt of the Mayor's post, who can question it?
If there is any difference, it should be discussed at the party forums. Congress is a party that includes all communities. We will not show the door to any certain sections. This is the beauty of Congress that attracts people. It is only after careful study of the situation that the party leadership makes a decision. It should be interpreted in that way. The party's decision will be final.
It is natural for differences of opinion to arise in a democratic party. However, don’t portray as if the party is battered with internal differences.”
