THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSU workers protested against minister R Bindu, who was talking to media workers regarding union elections in Kerala Varma College. The incident took place in the evening in front of Secretariat Annex II. KSU State Vice President Arun Rajendran, General Secretaries Priyanka Philip, Ashik Baiju and Sudev Krishna rushed to the Minister's side shouting slogans. The workers were stopped by the minister's personal staff and a few policemen present at the spot. Cantonment police immediately came and took them into custody. The protest was alleging that the minister had interfered in the Kerala Varma College Union elections.

Minister Bindu said that KSU is conducting the worst type of protest in the history of Kerala. "Marching to the minister's house to cover up the embarrassment of losing the Keralavarma college election is a travesty. As a minister, I need not and has not interfered in the college election procedures. If any, provide proof.", she said.

'Buying glasses is a right'

The minister responded to the controversy by saying that it is the right of MLAs to buy glasses. Opposition members have written more money than him to buy glasses. MLAs TJ Vinod received Rs 31,600 and Eldos Kunnapally Rs 35,842.
