THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More information has emerged in connection with the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's son Vivek Kiran two years ago under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. A private channel reported that ED officials have confirmed that the summons is related to the SNC Lavalin case. Initially it was said that the summons was related to the Life Mission case.

The ED issued summons following the information that Dilip Rahul, who was director of Lavalin company, had met the educational expenses of chief minister's son Vivek Kiran. The ED summons had asked Vivek Kiran to appear at the Kochi office on February 14, 2023 at 10.30 am. The ED clarified that the statement is that Dilip Rahul's policy was to pay officials and political leaders to get things done according to his and the institution's wishes.

In this way, a large amount of bribe was paid to the then electricity minister G Karthikeyan in 1995. After that, a huge amount was paid to Pinarayi Vijayan in 1996. The statement that a large amount was spent for the educational expenses of his son Vivek Kiran in the UK has also been recorded in the Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR). The summons was issued to Vivek Kiran to verify the information related to this statement. He did not appear or take any other steps as part of this summons.
