Lawyer on rowdy list as special prosecutor; Alappuzha DySP against Pathanamthitta SP

PATHANAMTHITTA: DySP against Pathanamthitta SP VG Vinod Kumar's move to make a lawyer on the rowdy list a special prosecutor in a murder case. Madhu Babu, former CI of Pathanamthitta and now DySP of Alappuzha, has filed a complaint with the Chief Minister and DGP.

The complaint alleges that the SP is trying to make advocate Prashanth V Kurup a special prosecutor in the murder case that took place in a shop in Pathanamthitta city in 2013. Prashanth is on the rowdy list of Pathanamthitta station. Madhu Babu alleged in his complaint that appointing Prashanth as a special prosecutor is part of a move to sabotage the case in which he was the investigating officer.

There are criminal cases against the lawyer in police stations in three districts. In his complaint, Madhu Babu also says that making a lawyer who only handles traffic accident cases a special prosecutor in a criminal case will lead to the case being dismissed.
Meanwhile, Advocate Prashanth said that the criminal cases filed against him when Madhu Babu was the Pathanamthitta CI were due to personal enmity. 'The matters in the complaint are baseless. I am also a lawyer in criminal cases,' Prashanth clarified.
