MALAPPURAM: Senior Muslim League leader and former MLA Abdurahiman Randathani is likely to switch sides ahead of the assembly elections. It is reported that Left leaders met Randathani, and a move is ongoing to field him in Tirurangadi or Tanur. If the negotiations fail, LDF will give Randathani the seat he demands.
Abdurahiman Randathani was the MLA from Tanur in 2006 and 2011. Minister V Abdurahiman was announced as the LDF candidate from Tanur. However, the minister expressed his desire to contest from Tirur instead. Despite the announcement, V Abdurahiman did not campaign in the constituency. There are also reports that the list of candidates from Tanur may change.
Following the announcement of the league's candidate, Abdurahiman Randathani lashed out against the leadership. Randathani criticised the league leadership for ignoring loyal members and considering candidates who emerged out of nowhere. The criticism was particularly directed at the candidacy of PMA Sameer in Tirurangadi.
