Alappuzha welcomed VS, the pride of Alappuzha, who became a giant in Kerala politics through a party that grew from the revolutionary land of Punnapra, for the last time. The funeral procession that left the Secretariat Durbar Hall at 2 pm yesterday reached Alappuzha after passing through Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. The mourning procession entered Alappuzha after covering 140 kilometers in 20 hours.
The funeral procession is accompanied shouting slogans like ‘kanne karale, VS.., No..No, it does not die, lives through us.’ A man from Alappuzha who has made a place in the hearts of the people with his stance and life. Most of the teenagers are seeing VS in person for the first time. With his body entering Alappuzha, the revolutionary soil is witnessing a crowd that has never been witnessed before.
People from different parts of the state have been flocking to Alappuzha for the last two days to see the leader. People were silently returning from the porch of his house. Women came in groups and raised their fists in front of the gate and shouted slogans like ‘kanne...karale VS’. All those who came joined them, shouting slogans. The pain of losing a member of their own family was on everyone's face. Even though people knew that there will be a delay for the body to reach his house, they waited patiently. His funeral has been scheduled for 4 pm today after public homage.
