THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress Working Committee member Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that the Left government has been trying to hurt the sentiments of believers and loot temple properties in Kerala for the last 10 years. He was speaking after inaugurating the 'Viswasa Samrakshana Jatha' organised by the KPCC in Thiruvananthapuram.

"This is a government of non-believers. They have no respect for the emotions of devotees. They are trying to destroy temple customs and traditions. Five years ago, they attempted to destroy the sanctity of Sabarimala and disrupt its rituals. The Left government is deliberately trying to destroy Sabarimala, which stands as a symbol of secular harmony in Kerala. It is a place that one can point out as an example of a place that represents humanity beyond caste and religion," Chennithala said.

He alleged that gold-plated Dwarapalaka idols and gold-plated door frames were stolen from the temple, and that both the Devaswom Board and Devaswom Ministers were complicit in these incidents.

“Private individuals are collecting crores of rupees in the name of Sabarimala and disappearing with the money. The Devaswom Board and ministers are supporting these acts. Crores of rupees are being misused from the Devaswom fund to organise the Ayyappa Sangamam. They are wasting the hard-earned money of devotees. The believers of Kerala will not forgive this,” Chennithala said.
