Local holiday declared in Kochi; Schools to remain closed tomorrow

KOCHI: Deputy Director of Education Subin Paul announced that schools under the Kochi Corporation limits will be closed tomorrow (Friday, November 28) in connection with the Revenue District School festival being held in Ernakulam.

The holiday will be applicable to government, aided and unaided (state syllabus) schools. The holiday has been announced to provide an opportunity for students to attend and enjoy the school festival.

The festival, which is being held at 15 venues, began on the 25th. About 8000 artists are performing in the five-day festival. On the 26th, at 9 am, Ernakulam Deputy Director of Education Subin Paul hoisted the flag at the main venue, St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School.

District Collector G. Priyanka inaugurated the festival. The closing ceremony will be inaugurated by Kochi City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya at 5.30 pm on the 29th.

The main venues are St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School, St. Albert's Higher Secondary School, St. Mary's Higher Secondary School, St. Teresa's Higher Secondary School, and Darul Uloom Vocational Higher Secondary School.
