THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Kerala in the coming days. IMD has also informed that a high-level Cyclonic Circulation is likely to form over the Karnataka coast in the central-east Arabian Sea by May 21 and strengthen into a low-pressure area by May 22. The low pressure will move northwards and strengthen again. Isolated heavy rains are also likely from May 18 to 21.
Indian Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph at isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod in the coming hours.
Yellow alert has been declared in various districts tomorrow. Yellow alert is in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. IMD defines heavy rain as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours. Rain with thunder is expected. On Monday, yellow alert is in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. On Tuesday, orange alert has been declared in four districts. Orange alert is in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
