PALAKKAD: The Mahila Morcha has lodged a complaint with the police against UDF candidate Ramesh Pisharody, alleging that he made anti-women remarks. The complaint was submitted to the district police chief by district president Kavitha Menon.

The complaint is based on Pisharody’s response to a media query regarding the sexual assault case involving director Ranjith. He had said that such matters are personal and it would not be appropriate for him to comment. Mahila Morcha has termed the statement insensitive and anti-women, alleging that it undermines survivors of sexual assault. The complaint seeks action against him on these grounds.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against BJP workers who allegedly blocked Pisharody during election campaigning at Vadakkanthara in Palakkad. BJP councillor Sindhu Rajan has been named as the first accused. The FIR was registered by the Palakkad Town North Police.

According to the FIR, the BJP workers allegedly threatened that Congress workers would not be allowed to enter houses seeking votes and used offensive remarks during the incident.
