Major fire at Kottakkal in Malappuram, shop gutted in fire

MALAPPURAM: A major fire broke out at a commercial establishment in Kottakkal. All efforts are being taken to douse the flames. A large commercial firm in the heart of Kottakkal caught fire at around 5:30 Saturday morning. The fire broke out in a shop that sells goods for Rs 200. Although the fire has been brought under control, the shop was completely gutted in the fire.

The extent of the accident was reduced by the rescue operation carried out by four units of fire force from Malappuram and Tirur. The fire force rescued two employees trapped inside the shop. The initial conclusion is that the cause of the accident was a short circuit.
