Major fire in plywood factory in Kasargod

KASARGOD: A major fire broke out at a plywood factory in Ananthapuram. Initial reports say the cause of the accident was a short circuit. The fire broke out at the Mark Wood factory Saturday morning at around 4 am. Ten fire force units, including those from Kasaragod, Uppala and Kuttikol tried to douse the flames. Reports say the fire is presently under control.

There was also a major fire at the Valapattanam Keeriyad plywood factory the other day. The fire broke out at around 4 am on Thursday. The raw materials used to make plywood were burnt. There was a loss of more than a crore. The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet.


Raw materials, machinery, and the building were completely destroyed in the fire located on the new National Highway 66 near the Valapattanam bridge. Owner K S Abdul Sathar told media that these materials were brought last week.
