KOCHI: The devaswom vigilance has noticed a major theft in Sabarimala. This was mentioned in the interim investigation report submitted by the devaswom vigilance in the high court in the gold-plated controversy. It was found that the gold in the sheets was stolen. The report also says that there is a huge conspiracy in the incident.
There was 1.5 kgs of gold in the Dwarpalaka idols. When Unnikrishnan Potty returned the sheets after taking it in July 2019, there was only 394 grams of gold in it, clarified the vigilance. The report says the gold given by Vijay Mallya that day was covered in eight side layers of gold weighing four kilos. Two sheets of it were given to Unnikrishnan Potty. The Vigilance clarified that how much gold is in these layers needs to be determined.
The email message sent by Unnikrishnan Potty to Padmakumar turned crucial in the investigation. Unnikrishnan Potty had sent an email asking for information about the Dwarapalaka idols. The Vigilance said that a month after sending the email, the Dwarpalaka idol was handed over and that a conspiracy is suspected from this message. The vigilance also clarified that there is a difference in the present and previous gold sheets. This conclusion was reached by comparing it with the images of the layers that existed before 2019. Vigilance came to a new conclusion after examining the 2019 layers with the gold sheets, which was renewed again in 2025 and brought to Sabarimala.
