The Traffic and Road Safety Management Division of Kerala Police organised a special drive across the state to create awareness among the public about the need to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and thereby reduce road accidents.
Several people have lost their lives in two-wheeler accidents in the recent past. Most of them were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident. 11 people lost their lives in this way on January 11 and 12, 2026 alone. The Highway Patrol Divisions of Kerala have been instructed to conduct continuous inspections in the coming days and take strict action against repeat violators.
The inspections were conducted under the supervision of the Traffic North Zone and South Zone SPs in collaboration with the District Traffic Nodal Officers as per the instructions of the Traffic and Road Safety Management IG.
The IG also informed that such inspections will be continued and necessary steps will be taken to make road traffic safe. If the public notices such traffic violations, they can inform the Traffic and Road Safety Management Division on the 'Subhayathra' WhatsApp number 974700 1099.
