KOCHI: A golden opportunity to settle half of the fines received for traffic violations. It is possible to avoid legal action by paying half through the Motor Vehicle Department's 'Amnesty Scheme 2026'. This concession is valid till April 30.
This relaxation from the government is a relief to those who have postponed the fine due to a big liability and are stuck due to technical reasons. For example, those who have been fined Rs 500 for driving without a helmet will have to pay just Rs 250 through this offer.
The adalat facility has been set up at the Enforcement RTO office on the ground floor of the Collectorate complex in Ernakulam district from April 27 to 30. The public can directly approach the court from 10.30 am to 5 pm to resolve their complaints and pay the fine.
The fine can also be paid online through the official website of MVD Kerala. The authorities have informed that direct adalat can be utilized to remove ambiguities in the fine amount and avoid hassles. The fine amount will have to be paid in full after April 30.
