Mayor V V Rajesh clarifies reason for not arriving to receive PM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mayor V V Rajesh will not be at the airport to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A list of 22 people including Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, top military and police officials has been published. The list contains leaders of the NDA and BJP leaders.

It is customary for the mayor to come and receive the VVIPs including the Prime Minister at the airport. The mayor’s office clarified that his absence was due to strict security protocols and scheduling requirements, as he was assigned responsibilities at other venues related to the Prime Minister’s official programmes. The reception was cancelled as the Prime Minister will be at the venue for both the events.
