
PATHANAMTHITTA: Health Minister Veena George attended a public event for the first time since she was treated for a neck injury sustained during the protests staged by KSU. The minister had come to inaugurate the Arogya Anandaam Fest in Pathanamthitta. The minister came wearing a collar around her neck. In her inaugural speech, the minister criticized saying that there was a planned attempt to destroy the health sector.
The severe pain was caused by pressure on the cervical exiting nerve roots at two locations in the neck. The pain spread to her right arm and the back of her head. She also had high blood pressure. The minister was undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College.
Meantime, Kannur Judicial First-Class Magistrate Court rejected the bail plea of the KSU activists remanded in the case of attempting to kill Veena George. A case has been registered against five people, including KSU district president M C Athul. The accused will be produced in the court on March 5.
