THRISSUR: Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, who got elected as Thrissur MP, will reach Thrissur today. Suresh Gopi learned about the news of his victory while spending time with his family at his home in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday. Following Suresh Gopi's victory in Thrissur, BJP workers staged a joyous demonstration in the city and elsewhere in the district.

The BJP leadership is planning to organise a warm reception for Suresh Gopi in Thrissur. There was great jubilation at the BJP district headquarters and various parts of Thrissur ever since Suresh Gopi started leading in Thrissur.

NDA workers celebrated Suresh Gopi's victory by bursting crackers and distributing sweets. BJP state vice president Adv B Gopalakrishnan, A Nagesh, V Unnikrishnan master, district president Adv Aneesh Kumar, BDJS district president Atulya Ghosh Vettiyattil, KS Hari, Justin Jacob and Ravikumar Uppathu led the celebrations.

Following Suresh Gopi's victory, the people of Thrissur are pinning their hopes on the Puthukkad flyover. The promise made by the authorities that they would consider the construction of the underpass after the development of the Mannuthy-Edappally road to a six-lane road had gone in vain. The authorities again ignored Puthukkad when they made plans to build underpasses at seven places on the national highway.

A few months ago, BJP workers submitted a petition to Suresh Gopi regarding the Puthukkad flyover in the case of the increasing number of accidents in the region. BJP workers promised that if Suresh Gopi wins, a flyover will be built instead of the underpass. Suresh Gopi had personally visited the place some months ago.
