Modi completes aerial survey, leaves for Chooralmala from Kalpetta by road

KALPETTA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed an aerial survey in the landslide hit Wayanad. After completing the aerial survey, he left for Chooralmala by road from Kalpetta. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi, ministerial sub-committee and senior officials are accompanying the Prime Minister.

There are 24 kilometers from Kalpetta to the disaster area. Modi will reach here via the Bailey Bridge. The Prime Minister will geet the soldiers who built the Bailey Bridge. After visiting the disaster area, the Prime Minister will visit the injured in the hospital and those living in the relief camps. He will then leave after attending the high-level review meeting. The office of the ADM in Wayanad Collectorate will temporarily function as the office of the Prime Minister.

Transportation has been restricted in Wayanad as part of Prime Minister's visit. Restrictions are there in Kalpetta and Meppadi. Security is under a leadership of 12 SPs.

Kerala demands package of Rs 2000 crore
Kerala has requested funds for emergency rehabilitation from the central team who visited the disaster affected area of Wayanad. 2000 crore was demanded for reconstruction alone. Cleaning work has to start immediately. At least 90 days are required for this. The camps will continue presently. Relief amount should be paid urgently to the disaster victims. The government has a strict stance on approaching financial institutions for repayment of loans to disaster victims. It was brought to the attention of the central team, including the announcement of relaxation in loan repayment.
