PATHANAMTHIITA: An inspection by amicus curiae is progressing in Aranmula in connection with the gold theft in Sabarimala. The main strong room of the devaswom board is in Aranmula. A team consisting of Justice K T Sankaran and the Thiruvabharanam Commissioner is conducting the inspection here. The amicus curiae had also arrived in Sannidhanam for inspection recently.

If valuable items are received as offering in Sabarimala, they are mainly shifted to the high-security strong room in Aranmula. Justice K T Sankaran and his team appointed by the high court are conducting the inventory of the items. The move comes after controversies arose on the gold theft.

The court has decided to take further legal action if any valuable items are found missing. The rule is that if devotees offer valuables at Sabarimala, it should be registered in the mahasar and then transfer them to the strong room within seven days. All these will be inspected. No inventory has been taken in the strong room in Aranmula for some time.

Meanwhile, Devaswom Board President P S Prasanth has informed that a proper investigation is underway into the Sabarimala gold theft. The court observed that the devaswom board did not inform the special commissioner in order to cover up the gold theft. Prasanth also said that the Devaswom Board had issued an explanatory notice to the authorities concerned after realizing a mistake from the side of the board.
