THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Clash erupted between workers of different political parties in Vanchiyoor over allegations of fake votes. BJP workers demanded re-polling in the ward after alleging CPM of election fraud.

It is alleged that CPM cast more than 100 fake votes in the first booth in Vanchiyoor. BJP workers said that people, not natives of Vanchiyoor, were brought in en masse to vote. CPM denied the allegation. BJP decided to file a complaint with the Election Commission.

BJP workers are currently protesting by blocking traffic on the road. Vanchiyoor ward is witnessing a fierce battle between CPM and BJP this year. Vanchiyoor is a ward that BJP lost by just one vote in the previous election. There were earlier allegations that the ward delimitation was done to ensure CPM's victory.
