KOCHI: The potholes in the road near Kalady hindered Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi’s journey on Thursday. The incident took place at noon today while the union minister was on his way to Thrissur.

The officials from the pilot vehicle came out and tried to help Suresh Gopi come out of the trouble but to no avail. The news spread about the actor-turned-politician getting caught in the road and in no time, a large crowd gathered in the area to see the union minister and also express their hardships while commuting through this road.

With this, Suresh Gopi got out of the vehicle and inspected the potholes on the road braving the rain. He then called the Public Works Secretary and requested that the matter be resolved as soon as possible. Suresh Gopi said that the potholes would be filled soon as he was given assurance by the public secretary.

The potholes in Kalady have so far contributed to the hours-long traffic snarls in this area. The trouble has only worsened with the arrival of monsoon.
