KOZHIKODE: There are more than two hundred votes in a single house number in the sixth ward of the Thamarassery panchayat. The information came to light when Congress workers checked the voter list to issue the slip. The house number in controversy is 6/394. It is also unclear who the real owner of this house is. It is in the Ambayathode, Elothukandi, Thekkumbhagam area. Some voters have Ambayathode and others have Ambayathode Michabhoomi(surplus land) and Elothukandi mentioned in the column House Name. All these are place names. Most of the names have '6-Plot' mentioned against them. Some have house names like Soufya Niwas, Nandu Nilayam. It is reported that the family members did not pay attention to this. The panchayat is currently governed by the UDF. The sixth ward has a CPM representative.
Those who lived in surplus land
Panchayat Secretary and Electoral Registration Officer Fawaz said that those who lived in surplus land years ago were included in the voter list with a single house number. Many did not have a house number or title deed. These are not newly added votes. No one has complained about this so far. He said that there was an opportunity to update the information in the voter list four times.
