KOZHIKODE: There is a major twist in the case where a nine-year-old girl died while undergoing treatment at the Thamarassery Taluk Hospital. The post-mortem report has now revealed that the girl did not die due to amoebic meningoencephalitis as suspected earlier. Instead, the report says the cause of death was viral pneumonia caused by Influenza A infection.

Earlier, the girl's father, Sanoop, had attacked a doctor at the Thamarassery Taluk Hospital, accusing him of medical negligence and claiming that his daughter did not receive proper treatment. He had also alleged that it was the doctor's mistake, not amoebic infection, that led to her death.

Initially, the District Medical Officer (DMO) had reported that the child died from amoebic meningoencephalitis. In the report submitted to the Director of Health Services, the cause of death was stated as amoebic meningoencephalitis, and it was mentioned that amoeba was detected in the fluid collected from the child’s spine during the post-mortem.
