KOCHI: The death of actor and director Nadirshah’s pet cat has been confirmed as a heart attack, according to the postmortem report. The report submitted by the district veterinary officer to the police stated that there were no injuries or marks on the cat’s body that would suggest strangulation or physical harm. As the report found no signs of foul play, the police have not registered a case so far. Further action may be dropped, officials said.

The incident happened last Saturday when Nadirshah’s Persian cat, Snowbell, was taken to a private pet clinic in Mamangalam, Ernakulam for grooming and nail trimming. Shortly after administering an anaesthetic injection, the hospital staff informed Nadirshah’s wife and daughter that the cat had died. Believing that there may have been negligence, the family requested a postmortem, and the cat’s body was moved to the mortuary. The matter gained public attention after Nadirshah shared a Facebook post holding the hospital responsible for the pet’s death.

Due to rumours that the hospital staff might have dragged the cat using a string tied around its neck, the neck area was shaved and closely examined. However, no injuries or marks were found. Officials from the animal welfare department said the cat likely had an undiagnosed heart problem, and the anaesthetic injection may have caused the heart attack.
