
PALAKKAD: The initial postmortem report of six-year-old Suhan in Chittoor confirmed drowning as the cause of death. The report said that there were no injuries or other bruises on his body. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to his relatives and kept for public viewing at the Royal Nursery School where he was studying.
An extensive search for Suhan, who went missing Saturday evening, was conducted by the fire department, police and locals for about 21 hours. The fields and vacant buildings near the house were searched several times. His body was found floating in the middle of a pond 800 meters away from his house. The body was first seen by locals and then the fire brigade arrived and retrieved the body.
The locals demand a thorough investigation into Suhan's death. A section alleged mystery as to how the six-year-old boy reached there alone and fell into the pond. Chittoor Municipality chairman Sumesh Achuthan said that this is not a place where a person can normally get into an accident while walking and that there should be an investigation to see if there are any reasons other than the possibility of an accident. Meantime, Electricity Minister K Krishnankutty, their MLA responded that there is nothing mysterious about the incident.
