ARYANAD: Reshma (32), the accused in almost ten cases of marriage fraud will be taken to the house of victims where she committed the fraud. The procedure will be conducted on Thursday as part of evidence collection. She will then be taken into custody by the Aryanad police.
Reshma's child's DNA test will be conducted for paternity identification. The child is with Reshma's mother in Ernakulam. Reshma told the police that her fraud was not for financial gain but to find love. On Wednesday, police filed a three-day custody application in the Nedumangad court. Based on Reshma's statement, information will also be collected about the victims of the fraud.
Reshma was caught while preparing for yet another marriage to an Aryanad panchayat member on the 6th. The fraud was uncovered when Reshma's bag was checked following her unusual behaviour on the wedding day. Reshma was dramatically arrested after documents showing her marriage to someone else were found in the bag.
Interestingly, Reshma doesn’t even remember the houses of her former husbands. Reshma’s shenanigans involved deserting the groom’s house days after marriage on the pretext of collecting her certificates.
After collecting evidence in Aryanad, she will be taken to Sarath's house in Thodupuzha Kavumpuram. Then she will be taken to Abhilash's house in Valakom and Abhijith's house in Kottayam. Reshma is not fully cooperating with the police investigation and is only disclosing her frauds committed after 2024.
The police are also collecting information about those who were duped of money by her. Reshma, who has an MA in Sanskrit, told the police that she is currently pursuing her JRF and PhD and was working in Bihar in the meantime. This will also be investigated.
