KOZHIKODE: Following the allegations of fake votes in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, Congress leader K. Muraleedharan has come forward criticising former Thrissur Collector Krishna Teja. Muraleedharan said that even though a complaint was given to the then Collector, he remained silent.

Speaking to the media, he said that when Congress workers stopped people who came to cast fake votes, the Collector allowed them to vote, saying they had the right to vote.

"If Suresh Gopi has any sense of morality, he should resign as MP. He is neither seen in the Parliament nor in Thrissur. He is active only on Facebook. We cannot see Suresh Gopi in any visuals from Parliament," Muraleedharan said.

"Congress had complained about the fake voting during the time of the election itself. However, the Collector did not take any action back then. Soon after the election, the Collector was appointed as the private secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. We suspect that this was a part of the deal between the BJP and the Collector," he said.

Muraleedharan further alleged that large-scale fake voting took place in Alathur and Chalakudy. As part of this, a huge number of votes were added in favour of the BDJS candidate in Chalakudy, he said.
