THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court has issued notices to former mayor Arya Rajendran and her husband and MLA Sachin Dev. The notice was issued on the complaint filed by KSRTC driver Yadhu. The notice is against the chargesheet excluding Arya and Sachin in the case related to the obstruction of a KSRTC bus in the middle of the road. The police had filed a chargesheet naming only mayor's brother Aravind as an accused. Yadhu has demanded that this be quashed. Yadhu is also demanding that the conductor who was with him be arraigned in the case.
In April 2024, the car carrying Arya and Sachin blocked a KSRTC bus near Palayam Saphalyam Complex claiming that the bus did not give way. A verbal dispute broke out then between Arya and Yadhu in the middle of the road. The former mayor alleged that the bus first hit the car at Plamood and then the driver made obscene gestures.
The police registered a case on the complaint filed by Arya. However, Yadhu filed a complaint with the police accusing them of obstructing duty and verbal abuse, but no case was registered in the initial stage. Yadhu later approached the court. As per the court's directions, the Cantonment Police registered a case.
Yadhu had demanded that charges including unlawfully entering the bus to commit a crime, unlawfully stopping it, using obscene language, and destroying evidence be filed against the mayor. However, the chargesheet had dropped the names of Arya, her husband and Arya's relative. The police said that it cannot be said that they obstructed his official duty.
