KOZHIKODE: The court has ordered further investigation in the death of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu. The order was issued by Thalassery Sessions Court. The court delivered the crucial verdict while considering the plea filed by Naveen Babu's wife. This decision is a heavy blow to the present investigation team.
The court has directed a detailed investigation on four main things. The court wants a clarification on the statement of a person Prasanth that he had pawned his gold to pay a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to Naveen Babu, and the details of where this gold is and when it was pawned should be investigated and found out. The court ordered that the details regarding this be investigated and found out.
The court said the investigation team examined only one of the two mobile phones in Prasanth's possession and demanded that the information on the second phone should also be examined. The documents produced in the court did not contain the full version of many phone records and directed that they be made available. The court also ordered that the vigilance officials who had earlier investigated the complaint in the case need to be questioned.
Naveen Babu was found hanging in his quarters on October 15, following the bribery allegations made by Kannur District Panchayat President P P Divya at his farewell meeting. The farewell meeting was held on October 14.
