P V Anvar’s surprise in Chelakkara; Congress leader N K Sudhir to become DMK candidate

PALAKKAD: Nilambur MLA P V Anvar announced Democratic Movement of Kerala’s (DMK) candidate for the Chelakkara by-election. The candidate is Congress leader and AICC member N K Sudhir.

Sudhir had served as KPCC secretary and dalit congress state general secretary. He has previously contested as a Congress candidate from Alathur Lok Sabha constituency. Anvar will meet the media soon.

Meantime, philanthropist Minhaj will contest as an independent candidate. Rahul Mamkootathil is the Congress candidate. Congress Digital Media Convenor P Sarin came forward the other day against the nomination of Rahul.

Sarin had severely criticized Rahul in the press meet he convened. Soon came reports that he is likely to contest polls as LDF independent. Sarin had interacted with CPM leaders and had agreed to contest.

The CPM Palakkad district leadership held a meeting to discuss this matter last evening. The CPM district leadership is of the opinion that it will be beneficial if Sarin becomes a left candidate. I was opined that the party should take advantage of the favorable situation that arose out of the conflict in the Congress.
