KOTTAYAM: Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA has harshly criticized the state government. He said the government is trying to make new announcements despite its limited authority to make policy decisions. In the press meet convened, Thiruvanchoor criticized the CPM in the Sabarimala gold theft case.
‘The Pinarayi government, which has lost its popular support, has become a mere caretaker government to avoid a state of gridlock until the next assembly elections. Despite its limited power to make policy decisions, the government is trying to make new announcements. The two devaswom board presidents involved in the Sabarimala gold theft are still party members in the committee. They have maintained their membership by justifying the robbery. The party is sending out a message that they will be protected no matter who opposes them.
The government should be held responsible for the theft. However, the state has seen the devaswom minister, the board and other government institutions kneeling before Unnikrishnan Potty. The CPM district committee member accused in the gold theft is being sent to jail and brought back from jail. Why is the party not taking action even though Kerala is seeing all this?
CPM state secretary M V Govindan says that there will be no action until charges are filed in the case. The CPM is adopting the policy of ‘thanpilla ponpilla’ in the Sabarimala theft. The laws are different for the party members and the government is protecting them. If they get a parody song on the Sabarimala theft, will enjoy it. If an artist writes a song with artistic sense about the theft of Lord Ayyappa’s gold, why should we object?
There is nothing unusual in the BJP’s victory in Thiruvananthapuram. The UDF got 645 more seats this time than in the 2020 elections. The UDF’s vote share grew by 57 percent. The CPM went down by 23 percent. M M Mani’s reaction to the election defeat is unprintable. Even the party had to dismiss it,’ he added.
