PK Sasi resigns as KTDC chairman ahead of elections; big political move anticipated

PALAKKAD: Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) Chairman PK Sasi submitted his resignation letter to the Tourism Secretary on Thursday. Sasi was at loggerheads with the CPM local leadership for the past few days. There were indications that he would attend a Congress event the other day. A former MLA of Shoranur, Sasi, is currently only a party branch member. He was subjected to party disciplinary action twice. The CPM local leadership had earlier demanded that he be removed from the post of KTDC Chairman, but the state leadership did not relent.

PK Sasi is expected to meet the media tomorrow. It is indicated that Sasi's move was made after discussions with the Congress camp. It should be seen whether the former CPM leader would contest the upcoming election in Shoranur or Ottapalam. PK Sasi has not responded to this rumour. PK Sasi was demoted in CPM over allegations of sexual harassment and financial fraud.
