KOZHIKODE: Social activist Bindu Ammini filed a complaint against MP NK Premachandran for his remarks regarding the entry of women into Sabarimala. Bindu filed the complaint at the Koyilandy police station.
NK Premachandran had earlier alleged that the Pinarayi Vijayan government brought both Bindu and Rehana Fathima to Sabarimala temple before feeding them with porotta and beef dishes at the guest house in Pala. Premachandran called out the duplicity of the current government in conducting a Global Ayyappa event after disrespecting the temple customs.
Bindu, in her complaint, labelled the statement as false and defamatory, which she said tarnished her reputation. Bindu Ammini denied going to the Pala guest house or the Kottayam Police Club before climbing the hills to the shrine. Bindu alleges that the MP carefully added the name of a Muslim woman to disrupt religious harmony.
“NK Premachandran is a law graduate and a member of parliament who is supposed to protect constitutional values. The statement he made was not born out of a mistake but a well-planned one. Premachandran knew the consequences of what he was saying, and still continued to go with it. Police need to register a case,” said Bindu Ammini.
