Pregnant woman dies in Pattambi Taluk Hospital, family complains of medical negligence

PALAKKAD: A woman died without getting proper treatment in Pattambi Taluk Hospital. The dead identified as Noushida of Mezhathur, was admitted in the hospital for her third delivery. The Thrithala police have registered a case in the incident. Her relatives complain of medical negligence and alleged that she was not given proper treatment.

Noushida, who was nine-months pregnant, was admitted in the hospital on February 16. As she was on labour pain, she was on doctors’ observation from February 19. She suddenly collapsed Friday morning after experiencing breathing issues and bleeding. The doctors then advised to take her to a private hospital in Ottappalam immediately, but she died before reaching there.

Her relatives said the woman was admitted to the hospital without any major health issues. Meantime, the doctors believe that she may have suffered a heart attack. The woman's body has been shifted to Thrissur Medical College. Whether there was any medical negligence will be known only after the postmortem.
