Probe launched against police officers for allegedly manhandling KSU woman activist

KOCHI: An investigation has been ordered into the complaint that KSU activist Miva Jolly was manhandled by male police officers while she was showing the chief minister a black flag. The DCP of Kochi has asked the Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner to inquire and submit a report following a complaint by Ernakulam DCC President Mohammad Shias. Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan wrote to the Chief of Police demanding action against the policemen.

The incident which took place near the Kalamassery Decathlon showroom on Saturday surfaced on the media. There was no women police to deal with the unexpected protest. Miva alleged that the male police grabbed her body, dragged her, hit her on the head and forced her in a vehicle and spoke rudely.

Miva, a native of Thevakkal, is a BA first year student of Sreesankara College in Kalady. She joined BA after completing B.Tech.
