KOLLAM: The CPM district secretariat meeting held yesterday decided to give a proposal to the state committee to nominate Kollam MLA and actor M. Mukesh as a candidate for the Kollam parliamentary constituency. The proposal of the CPM district leadership is based on the assessment that Mukesh's public acceptance as an actor will be beneficial.
The district center meeting was first held with the participation of state committee members from the district and central committee members KN Balagopal and CS Sujatha. KN Balagopal presented the panel of CS Sujatha, MLA M Mukesh and Sujith Vijayan Pillai, Chavara MLA prepared by the State Secretariat in this meeting. There was an opinion that if a candidate who is acceptable beyond politics is fielded, he can win. That is how the name of M. Mukesh came to be. The district secretary S.Sudevan presented the proposal of the district center in the meeting of the district secretariat. The district secretariat meeting approved the proposal of the district center. Mukesh is a legislator from Kollam for the last two terms.
RSP's NK Premachandran MP will be the UDF candidate. BJP District President B.B. Gopakumar or National Executive Committee member Kummanam Rajasekharan is likely to be the NDA candidate.
