THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Social activist Rahul Easwar was remanded for cyberbullying the complainant of the sexual assault case against Rahul Mamkootathil MLA. The court rejected Rahul's bail plea and remanded him for 14 days. Rahul will be shifted to Poojappura sub-jail.

Rahul argued that the arrest was a violation of the Supreme Court's verdict. Rahul Easwar told the court that the arrest was not legal, as he said the notice was issued after he was taken into custody. However, the prosecution argued that the notice was issued earlier.

Rahul was arrested in the case yesterday. The case includes sections such as insulting femininity and intimidation. Misuse of electronic systems has also been charged. It is an offence that can be punished with imprisonment for up to two years. The cyber police took action on a complaint filed by the woman, citing that her personal information was disclosed.

Rahul was taken into custody from his residence at 5 pm on Sunday and taken to the Police Training College in Nandavanam AR Camp where he was questioned for about four hours. The arrest was recorded at 9 pm. Rahul's mobile phone was seized. A medical examination was conducted at the General Hospital.

A case has also been registered against Congress leader Sandeep Varier, Mahila Congress Pathanamthitta District Secretary Ranjitha Pulikkan, Advocate Deepa Joseph, and a vlogger from Palakkad. Sandeep Varier responded that he will fight the case legally.
