PALAKKAD: Rahul Mamkootathil MLA, accused in a sexual assault case, has reportedly crossed into Coimbatore. A special investigation team conducted a search at Rahul’s flat in Palakkad and collected CCTV footage. Police confirmed that his official vehicle was found at the residence.
According to officials, the CCTV footage was collected to verify details mentioned in the woman’s complaint. Meanwhile, the complainant’s voice sample will be tested to confirm whether the audio clips that surfaced are indeed hers. The examination will take place at the Chitranjali Studio in Thiruvallam.
The court will consider Rahul's anticipatory bail plea on Wednesday. On Saturday, his lawyer submitted nine digital pieces of evidence, including chats and audio messages, sealed in an envelope before the Thiruvananthapuram Principal District and Sessions Court. The lawyer claims these materials prove that the woman filed the complaint due to external pressure and that the abortion was carried out with her consent.
There are also reports that the evidence includes an audio recording in which the woman says that a senior official at her workplace influenced her to file the complaint against Rahul. The lawyer further stated that Rahul, who has been absconding since the woman submitted her complaint to the Chief Minister last Thursday, had visited his office in Vanchiyoor to sign legal papers.
