THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rahul Mamkootathil MLA has again requested more time to file a reply to a petition filed by the investigation team seeking cancellation of his bail in a sexual assault case. This is the second time he has asked the court for additional time. The Thiruvananthapuram Judicial First Class Magistrate Court will consider the petition again next Tuesday.
The survivor who filed the second sexual assault complaint against Rahul Mamkootathil approached the investigation team, alleging that he tried to influence her while out on bail. She told the investigators that he had called her on the phone in an attempt to influence her. Following this complaint, the investigation team approached the court seeking cancellation of his bail, arguing that Rahul Mamkootathil violated the bail conditions.
When the case came up for hearing again today, Rahul Mamkootathil asked the court for more time to submit his response. According to the complaint, the MLA attempted to contact the survivor through a WhatsApp call the day after she gave her confidential statement before the court.
