
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that all districts of Kerala will receive rain within 24 hours. There is also a warning that strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph are possible. A yellow alert has been issued for eight districts in view of the heavy rain. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur are on yellow alert today.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur tomorrow. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.
Cyclone 'Montha' has intensified into an extreme cyclonic storm and is located over the central-west Bay of Bengal. A severe low pressure is also located over the central-east Arabian Sea. For these reasons, it has been informed that there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers in Kerala for the next five days.
