THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in the state today. Yellow alert has been issued in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The warning states that heavy rains are likely in central and north Kerala. Isolated heavy rains are predicted. The IMD defines heavy rain as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is expected in 24 hours.
The low-pressure area over Chhattisgarh is intensifying the rain situation in Kerala. Along with this, a cautionary advisory has been issued to fishermen. The IMD has banned fishing on the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts on September 29 and 31st.

30/08/2025 & 01/09/2025: Strong winds speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph and bad weather likely over south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and Kanyakumari area.
29/08/2025: Strong winds speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph and at times reaching 60 kmph and bad weather likely over south Gujarat, Konkan and Goa coasts, central east Arabian Sea, north Andhra Pradesh coast and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast, central Bay of Bengal, southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal.
