Rains to lash state; two districts warned, Kallakadal Phenomenon alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Rains are likely to lash the state on Thursday. Yellow alert has been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

In the next three hours, there is a possibility of moderate rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph in isolated places in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of light rain in isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.

Rain will continue in the coming days. Yellow alert has been issued in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, and Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Sunday.

Kallakadal Phenomenon alert issued
As part of the black sea phenomenon, the National Centre for Oceanographic Studies and Research (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of sea erosion due to waves rising to 1.6 to 2.0 meters along the coasts of Thiruvananthapuram (from Kappil to Pozhiyoor) from 05.30 am today to 02.30 am tomorrow.
