Record marriages in Guruvayur Ambalanadayil, 354 weddings solemnized 

GURUVAYUR: An all- time record number of marriages was hosted at the Sree Krishna Temple here on Sunday. In all, 354 marriages were solemnised at the temple today. Although the number of marriages reached 363, nine groups informed the Devaswom that they could not reach. So, 354 marriages were solemnized. This is the first time that so many weddings are taking place in Guruvayur in a day. Due to the increase in the number of weddings, in addition to the existing four marriage mandapams, two more temporary mandapams were erected in front of the temple. There is a huge crowd inside the temple.

The weddings started at 4 early Sunday morning. There were six temple Koyimmars near the mandapam and two musical bands near the mandapam. After taking the token from the counter at the temporary pandal adjacent to Pattarkulam on the south side, the wedding parties should enter the mandapam on a priority basis. Only 24 including the photographer are allowed to enter. After marriage, it is permissible to return via the thekke nada.

After the wedding, photography is not allowed on the kizhakke nadapandal. Darshan from near the deepastham is also restricted. Apart from the multi-storied vehicle parking complex on the east side, the Devaswom Srikrishna Higher Secondary School ground near Mammiyoor Junction has also been set up for parking. A huge rush is witnessed here. Hotels and lodges were already booked by the wedding parties, so many people found it hard to get rooms.
